This Summary was prepared in cooperation with the Global Temperature-Salinity Profile Program (GTSPP).
The observation programs shown mainly represent open ocean data. Data held by the GTSPP vary in a number of ways

which are reflected in the programs shown. For example, TRITON mooring data held by the GTSPP average about 15

samples/day for each mooring while TAO averages 1-2/day. XBT includes both high density (every 50KM) and

low density (every 150 KM) measurements.
